Professor of Practice Autism and Developmental Disabilities and Early Childhood Special Education

The Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking to appoint a Professor of Practice to primarily teach organized courses and supervise practicum experiences in our Early Childhood and Autism and Developmental Disabilities graduate specializations. The appointment is a 9-month, non-tenure track position. The appointment will be made at the assistant, associate, or full professor level depending on the prior experience of the candidate.

The Autism and Developmental Disabilities and Early Childhood specializations are in the process of enhancing the equity, diversity, and inclusion content of the curricula and pedagogy to meet the needs of a diverse student body. We are therefore seeking to attract a bilingual individual (Spanish/English preferred) with a doctorate in special education (or a related field) who is also a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D).

Duties will include:
Teaching organized courses predominantly at the graduate level in our BACB accredited course sequences in autism and developmental disabilities and early childhood special education
Supervising and teaching organized practicum courses
Securing and maintaining affiliated practicum sites in schools and clinical settings
Serving as the verified course sequence coordinator between the Department of Special
Education and the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
The Department is particularly interested in and values candidates who have experience
working with students from diverse backgrounds, and show a demonstrated commitment to
improving access and conditions in educational settings for students, faculty, and institutions
that serve underrepresented and marginalized communities.
Providing leadership among the faculty in the ongoing process of curriculum revision and program development to maintain accreditation with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
Providing service to the program, department, college, university, professional community, and public
Participating in other program, departmental, college, and university activities as assigned
Committing to a practice of inclusive teaching, research, and service that focuses on educational equity.

Qualifications Required
Doctoral degree in special education or a related field (e.g., psychology, applied behavior analysis)
Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)
Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and eliminating disparities in education
and health
Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D)
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a behavior analyst in the State of Texas
At least three years teaching/clinical experience

Spanish language proficiency to teach select organized courses through the medium of Spanish
An active research program in applied behavior analysis with a focus on autism and/or early childhood special education
Prior experience working in interdisciplinary clinical and/or educational settings
