JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be required to (a) teach evening courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats in the post-baccalaureate credential and graduate programs including strands in special education foundations and instructional practices for learners with severe/profound disabilities; (b) supervise and evaluate fieldwork activities, (c) advise credential and graduate students; (d) participate in curriculum development and ongoing program assessment activities; and (e) participate in scholarly activity and service. The successful candidate may be required to teach courses at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert Campuses.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned doctorate in hand by time of appointment. (Severe-Profound Disabilities)

Qualifications for this position include: (1) earned doctorate in special education, doctoral students graduating by July 31, 2023 will be considered; (2) minimum of three (3) years of public-school teaching experience with students with severe to profound disabilities; (4) commitment to teaching, research, and service to the university, community, and to the profession; (5) a strong potential for research and scholarly activity. Higher education teaching and record of research, and scholarly activities required for appointment at higher rank.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Evidence of scholarly activity, publication is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at the program level is preferred. At assistant rank potential for program level leadership.

HIRING DEPARTMENT

The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling invites applications for a tenure track Open Rank Professor position beginning August 2023. The Special Education program includes the California Education Specialist teaching credentials in Early Childhood Special Education, K-12 Mild to Moderate Support Needs, and K-12 Extensive Support Needs accredited by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing as well as a master's degree program.
