TRIO Success Coach - Disability Resource Specialist

St. Catherine University and our TRIO team invites applications for a full-time, grant funded TRIO Success Coach.

TRIO/Student Support Services is a grant-funded program, providing comprehensive academic support services to students who are first-generation college students, come from a low-income household, and/or have a disability. The Success Coach will support students to drive retention, improved academic standing, and graduation. St. Kate's enrolls a richly diverse student body, fully half of which meet eligibility guidelines for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). Our goal is to increase the number of eligible students who will be retained, remain in good academic standing, and graduate with a bachelor's degree within six years. Responsibilities:
  • Deliver proactive advising services, communicating respectfully and building relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities, affirming the worth and preserving the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Refer participants to appropriate campus offices based on assessed need.
  • Communicate with faculty, advisers, and tutors to surface and remediate any challenges or concerns.
  • Design individual student success plans.
  • Document and track student progress against agreed upon goals and program expectations outlined in success plans.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver enrichment events that support student success, with specific attention to the needs of students with neuro-diversities.
  • Coordinate with Career Development, OSE, Financial Literacy, Multicultural Services, and other offices/programs to provide co-curricular activities and opportunities.
  • Assist with recruitment and eligibility screening.
  • Present information about the TRIO-SSS program to relevant audiences on and off campus.
  • Regularly update participant files to maintain complete and accurate program records.
  • Assist director with data collection to support program reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Education, Special Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Counseling, Career Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Undergraduate academic advising experience or related experiences working with TRIO populations students (low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities).
  • Knowledge of TRIO Student Support Services programs and related federal regulations.
  • Experience managing multiple time-sensitive projects while maintaining high-contact relationships with students.
  • Experiences working with students with disabilities in one or more of the following areas: academic advising, career readiness, assistive technology, or education services.
  • An understanding of how to apply federal law as it applies to individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree.
  • Experience advising students in TRIO programs.
  • Experience with counseling theories and retention best practices in higher education.
  • Three years or more years of experience within a college or university retention, career, advising, tutoring, or counseling department.
  • Experience delivering workshops and training.
