Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

The Inclusive Education Department is led by a group of education professionals united in our mission to support and honor all learners and their families, including English language learners and individuals with exceptionalities. We accomplish this by developing educators who can effectively teach individuals with exceptionalities while addressing the unique needs of learners with varying social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.

The core values of the department are grounded in a framework that situates the praxis and policy of teaching exceptional students in a context of fairness, impartiality, and access.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Special Education faculty position in the Department of Inclusive Education with a preferred start date of August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Special Education, which may include clinical supervision of teacher candidates
  • Service to the Department of Inclusive Education, Bagwell College, Kennesaw State University, and the professional community is expected including departmental program coordination
  • Scholarship/research activities are expected
  • Working collaboratively with community and school stakeholders to ensure student success

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A Doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in Special Education, or a related discipline is required. ABDs close to completion will be considered. Degree must be awarded before August 1, 2024.
  • Minimum three years of successful teaching experience with exceptional learners in PK-12 schools or foreign equivalent.
  • Experience in gifted education, dyslexia, or in scientific methods of reading
  • Experience with in-service or pre-service teacher preparation
  • Knowledge of research-based special education teaching practices, methods, and techniques
  • Knowledge of current state and national standards for the teaching profession, especially those pertaining to special education
  • Demonstrated professionalism and strong interpersonal skills that support collegiality
  • Evidence of scholarship/creative activities
  • Experience teaching face-to-face, on-line, or hybrid courses


Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of past teaching at an undergraduate or graduate level
  • Recent experience in PK-12 schools
  • PK-12 or higher education leadership experience
  • Familiarity and/or experience with TESOL (e.g., teaching English Language Learners)
  • Experience with online and face-to-face course development
