Assistant Professor of Special Education, Behavior Analysis - College of Education (34708)

Position Description Summary:
This nine-month tenure-track appointment begins August 16, 2021. The successful candidate will teach coursework in our BCBA certification and special education licensure programs, will pursue a research agenda leading to scholarly publications and presentations, and will participate in program, department, and college service. SEED's highly collaborative faculty provide mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students and maintain high levels of student engagement through research and partnerships with area school districts. We seek a faculty member who embraces NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body, providing them with access to high quality education and hands-on involvement in research and community engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate coursework in the LBS and BCBA sequences;
  • Engage in scholarly activities (e.g., research, publications, presentations, grant-writing);
  • Contribute to service activities of the program, department, college, and university;
  • Mentor graduate students related to their academic program;
  • Participate in program development, course revision, and internship/clinical supervision.

    Experience in one area related to special education in addition to behavior analysis (e.g., developmental disabilities, Director of Special Education, assistive technology, transition services, or early childhood special education);
    Evidence of effectiveness and innovation in teaching at the college level including hybrid or synchronous instruction;
    Experience directing student research;
    Experience supervising candidates in internships;
    Record of collaboration and scholarly productivity within and across disciplines;
    Experience with assistive technology and its use with individuals with significant disabilities.
