Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

The Inclusive Education Department is led by a group of education professionals united in our mission to support and honor all learners and their families, including English language learners and individuals with exceptionalities. We accomplish this by developing educators who can effectively teach individuals with exceptionalities while addressing the unique needs of learners with varying social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education faculty position in the Department of Inclusive Education with a tentative start date of August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position.

Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of special education
Supervising teacher candidates in field experience and student teaching placements
Working collaboratively with community and school stakeholders to ensure rich and meaningful clinical experiences
Supporting university/school partnership initiatives at the local and state level
Contributing to the department through service within the department, college, university, and community. Service may include program coordination.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

A Doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in Special Education, or a related discipline, is required by date of appointment.
Minimum three years of successful teaching experience with exceptional learners in PK-12 schools or foreign equivalent
Experience in gifted education, dyslexia, or scientific approaches to reading
Experience with in-service or pre-service teacher preparation
Knowledge of research-based special education teaching practices, methods, and techniques
Knowledge of current state and national standards for the teaching profession, especially those pertaining to clinical experiences
Experience teaching face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses
Demonstrated professionalism and strong interpersonal skills that enhance school partnerships and support collegiality
Evidence of strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Record of past teaching at an undergraduate or graduate level
Recent experience in PK-12 schools
Familiarity and/or experience with TESOL (e.g., teaching English Language Learners)
PK-12 or higher education leadership experience
Experience with online and face-to-face course development
Evidence of scholarship/creative activities
