Department Information
The Department of Inclusive Education offers programs at the masters and specialist levels in Special Education and TESOL. The programs and endorsements offered by the department share a philosophy of inclusion that is embedded throughout the curriculum focused on culturally and linguistically responsive teaching, critical thinking and collaboration, and student-centered learning within inclusive settings. Faculty members focus on the preparation of expert teachers and leaders, thus assuring that all standards for each discipline - both at the state and national levels - are met, and broad-based awareness of equity and social justice for engaged citizenship is realized.

The Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) is one of the largest and strongest teacher preparation units in the University System of Georgia offering bachelor's, master's, educational specialist, and Doctor of Education degree programs. All educator preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by Georgia's Professional Standards Commission (PSC). KSU's Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) is the university's umbrella organization for preparing educators and includes 13 departments from five colleges all of which collaborate on the design, delivery, approval, and accreditation of all educator preparation programs. The EPP serves as a model of university-wide responsibility for teacher education; field-based collaboration with practicing professionals and partner schools; infusion of technology for enhanced teaching and learning; and best practices for the inclusion of English learners and students with exceptionalities.

Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track, Limited Term Assistant Professor of Special Education faculty position in the Department of Inclusive Education.

This position will strengthen the department's expertise in the areas of collaborative practices, curriculum and instruction for inclusive settings, classroom management, creating culturally responsive classrooms and schools, inclusive practices as well as planning, implementing, and assessing instruction for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

Teach special education graduate and undergraduate level courses (face to face and online).
Engage in service to the Department, College, University, and professional community.
Coordinate programs and provide support and supervision to candidates in clinical placements.
Work within a diverse community to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This position reports to the Chair of the Inclusive Education Department. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

An earned Doctorate or the foreign equivalent, in special education, or a closely related field (e.g., Students with Exceptionalities, Gifted Education) and at least 18 graduate credit hours in Special Education.
Minimum of three years experience teaching students with disabilities in culturally and linguistically diverse B12 settings.
Knowledge of effective Special Education teaching practices, methods, and techniques as demonstrated by completed field and academic professional development.
At least one semester experience teaching in a higher education setting using technology skills to support teaching (online, blended, and face-to-face).

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice for all children and youth.
Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community.
Demonstrate knowledge of current state and national standards for the teaching profession (e.g., CEC, Common Core).
Experience teaching in face to face, hybrid and/or online course designs in higher education.
Experience teaching a variety of exceptionalities in inclusive B12 settings for three or more years.
Experience with gifted learners, reading methodologies, and/or UDL.
Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in an interdisciplinary environment.
