Part - Time Instructor Teacher Special Education - FY 2023

Job Description
Instructor will teach Introduction to Special Education and be actively involved in the primary duties of the course.
Teaching includes, but is not limited to, the following.
1. Teaching assignments will provide students an overview of special education. Focus is on characteristics of learners with disabilities and on the historical, social and legal foundations of special education. Management of student's classroom observation hours.
2. Meeting all classes at the time, place and length of time designated.
3. Teaching courses as assigned which correlate with the catalog descriptions and course outlines in a manner designed to assist the student to achieve the specific objectives of the course.
4. Providing each student at the beginning of each course with a course outline which may include the following information:
a. The goals, objectives and content for the course of study.
b. Required and supplementary textbooks to be used.
c. Attendance requirements.
d. Behavior and discipline requirements.
e. Planned schedule of examinations, field trips or other special activities.
f. Out-of-class assignment policy
g. Method of evaluating student progress toward an achievement of course goals and objectives, including the method by which the final grade is derived.
h. Information about office hour availability and appointment procedures.
i. Other information that advises students of those requirements established by the instructor for meeting the course objectives.
5. Assigned courses, days, times and/or locations may vary from semester to semester.
6. Assignments may be any combination of classroom and online modes.
7. Assignments may be located on any combination of CSN's several campuses.
8. Assignments may be any combination of morning, afternoon and evening hours.
9. Assignments may be any combination of any days of the week including weekends.
10. Assignments may be any combination of courses for which instructor is qualified.

This position will be paid $925.00 per lecture credit hour. Credits will vary by semester.

Required Qualifications :
Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, ESL or other related degrees and a preference of 3+ years of special education teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or Ed.D in Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Studies, Educational Leadership, or other related degrees and a preference of 3+ years of special education teaching experience.
